For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given
and the government shall be upon His shoulder
and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor,
the mighty God, the everlasting Father,
the Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6

My husband and I went into the city for dinner, and as we walked down the sidewalk, someone was broadcasting Christmas carols. It was snowing, the storefronts were all decorated, carols were playing, it was quite festive. Arm in arm with my honey, we walked to the restaurant.

After dinner Handel's "Messiah" was the song we heard on the sidewalk. Symphony performance only, no choral performers. I started singing,
And the gov-er-ment shall be up-on his shou-ou-ou-ou-ou-ders.
How do you know this song? He asks. I must have sung it with a choral group many years ago, because my brain was remembering alto harmonies.

So, since that night Handel's "Messiah" has been stuck in my head.

For unto us a Child is born
Halleluiah!
